RUTRF RESTROOM PROJECT IN MAMFE, CAMEROON
Access to clean and safe sanitation is a basic human need, yet for many communities affected by poverty and displacement, proper restroom facilities remain a major challenge. In Mamfe, Cameroon, inadequate sanitation has contributed to unhygienic living conditions and increased the risk of diseases associated with poor sanitation, including diarrheal illnesses and cholera. Recognising the importance of a clean and healthy learning environment, Raise Up The Roof Foundation (RUTRF) undertook the construction of a modern restroom facility for a Catholic Primary School in Mamfe.
From a Project to a Lasting Impact
What began as a response to an urgent need has now become a completed project serving the school community. The restroom facility has been successfully completed and is now in use, providing pupils and staff with a safer, cleaner, and more dignified sanitation environment. For the children, this means having access to appropriate facilities during the school day rather than being exposed to the health and safety risks associated with inadequate sanitation. For teachers and the wider school community, it represents an important improvement in the overall learning environment.
Investing in Children and Their Well-being
The project goes beyond the construction of a physical structure. Good sanitation is essential to the health, dignity, and education of children. A clean school environment can help reduce the spread of preventable diseases, encourage better hygiene practices, and create conditions in which children can concentrate more fully on their education. Through the project, RUTRF is also helping to promote awareness of proper hygiene, responsible use, and maintenance of sanitation facilities, ensuring that the benefits of the intervention can be sustained for years to come.

The completed restroom facility stands as a practical example of what can happen when compassion is transformed into action. By supporting a Catholic primary school in Mamfe, RUTRF is contributing not only to better sanitation but also to the dignity, safety, and well-being of the children who use the facility every day.
